Almost 4 year old milestones

Neev can draw some pretty cool pics of mom and dad. They all look mostly bald and similar but hey I will take that !

He also has been drawing up a storm....making his mark (quite literally) on pretty much any surface he can see...my wallet included!! His animal drawings are incredible bearing an almost likeness to the real deal.

Sports:

Keya on the other hand is discovering a passion for running and man can that kid run. She actually outruns me (umm is it that or just me getting older :D). I can't wait to take her running every morning with me!!

Hindi:

Keya says Mera Naam Keya Hain & Main Tumse Pyaar Karti hoon with the heaviest accent imaginable. Most times she jumbles up the two sentences going: Main pyaar naam keya hain :D

Neev for some reason talks gibberish saying I am talking Marathi.err

Hobbies:

Neev absolutely loves taking pictures. There was a day he took over 150 pics using my iPhone. National geographic photographer in the making?

3 Year Milestones

Swimming: started lessons at 2 at the PA YMCA

Hiking: introduced them to their 1st hike in Alaska at 2

Potty trained (yup, it felt more work than a hike to us :P): Keya fully potty trained before she turned three. Neev right after he turned three. The only reason Neev got potty trained was to be able to go to a big school with his sister :)

Pre-School

Pre-School

This week N & K started pre-school at Windsor Academy - McKinley campus. I was beyond apprehensive about the move. Most of my concerns were around will they like the new place, was it the right choice, should we have sent them to a more formal school like Stratford and and and :D

But the 1st day rolled in, and they both absolutely loved their new school! It also surely helped that their 1st day at school was Whacky Wednesday day, where all the things at school were upside down and downright whacky! Even the kids had their shirts on backwards and the like.....aah what fun to be a kid again!

Day 2 was Splash day, and if that would not win N & K over, am not sure what would! Given their love for water, this was the perfect way to start school in their mind.
As for me, I like that they had a formal gym class right there at the school...that means no crazy back and forth diving to and from classes!!

Day 3 was Nature Walk Day, where N & K's main complaint was that the walk/hike was way too short and easy....go figure :D. But then these are also the same kids who end up sitting sweetly in a corner and reading books at a bday party while most kids around them are duking it out with faux swords :D

Praying that this happy school trend continues....stay tuned!

1st Hindi Movie

Last night we all watched Pyaar Kiya to Darna Kya, one of R & my all time fav Bollywood movies. As always, Neev had little or no interest in the movie, but Keya....man Keya was completely riveted! Its like she had stepped into a whole new world altogether.

She usually is the one who cant keep her eyes open past 9:30, but last night she was up till almost midnight where I saw her fighting to stay awake to watch the movie!

Now that Neev & Keya are 27 months old, they are talking nineteen to a dozen...the questions have already started...what this mamma, what you doing dada :D

I have been trying to correct Neev & Keya's mispronunciations, but then also with some sadness that these cute versions of theirs will soon be replaced with real adult words :D But before I forget all their silliness, here are some I am documenting for future embarrassing references ;).

Keya:

Fishy: Fish. They had 2 fish at 2 years called Lulu & Daisy. Sadly Daisy didn't survive past the 1st week

Finally!

I am finally getting around to posting more about Neev n Keya's latest shenanigans, exploits and achievements! One of the main impetus for me to start writing this blog was to remember all the goofy, cute, amazing and not so amazing ;) things the kiddos are upto. Moreso I realized how quickly we seem to forget when they started sitting up, crawling, teething and the like. If nothing, its a helpful log for when folks ask things like: when did they start eating solids, walking, talking...and currently we scratch our heads and go ummmmm...

So here is my initial log of when what and how :D
1. 1st social smile: at around 3 months (or so we think ;)
2. 1st trip out of the home: July 10 to the temple (it was also mom's bday that day!)
3. 1st international trip: 4.5 months to India (via Korea). That was also about the same time they started laughing...I think the India trip really got them into lotsa giggles n laughs...i wish i had recorded some of Neev's amazing laughter everytime he saw my dad....or Keya's laugh everytime she saw this silly bright yellow smiley balloon stuck on the wall for their naming ceremony...
4. Started turning: at around 6 months
5. 1st solids: 6 months. Mom made this amazing bhardi mix which Neev just adored...Keya umm not so much ;).
6. Sitting and crawling: at 7 months. Keya started crawling way before Neev, but Neev caught up just a few days later..and once he did he mastered it with extreme gusto...Keyu still did the army crawl for a while...but Neev just went with the perfect baby crawl :D
7. Started standing and cruising the furniture: 8 months
8. Started talking: Keya's 1st word was agoooooo at about 6 months..they both started saying babaaa, mammaaaaa at around 7 months
9. Saying bye bye: Keya did the cutest aiy aiy with a wave at 8 months or so...Neev did a mini bye bye (no words) at 9 months
10. Teething: 9 months just about started...still waiting for their teeth to reveal themselves completely :).
11. Keya's ear piercing (hopefully her ONLY piercing ;): 10 months

Yowza, am now a mom of adorable twins! Now what, start a blog? Why yes! Truth be told, I decided to start this blog to prevent my own memory loss...I mean look at how quickly I have forgotten all the pregnancy related craziness: what with the 2-3 times a day throw up sessions, humongous swollen feet, hugest belly I ever saw :P, crazy itch on hands and legs (there is a term even for this special pregnancy related condition which also I forget now!)...and so on n so forth.

So before I forget the crazy, cute, whacky things my kids do on a daily (ok maybe weekly D:) basis, lets get this blog started !
